We long for it after a long day of work and it’s a must have at the table for a nice dinner. Can you guess what ‘it’ is? You got it! The magnificent Red Wine we all love to drink. In honor National Red Wine Day, today’s post will explain the benefits of Red Wine and much more!

Benefits of Red Wine

Drinking Wine daily, in moderation of course, can help fight off unwanted infections and give that immune system a nice boost! A glass or two daily can help your immune system out on top of any daily vitamins you are taking. Wine, both red and white, contain antioxidants that act like a defensive line in football rushing to sack the Quarterback.  The antioxidants go on the offensive to tackle any nasty little infection that may be creeping around. In addition, these very same antioxidants can reduce the risk of cancer. Specifically, cancer in the colon, prostate, and breasts. Please note, if you’re not drinking wine in moderation, it can create adverse effects on your health that you’re trying to avoid in the first place, especially your immune system.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 795,000 people in the United States have a stroke yearly. This number is extremely high! Luckily, drinking red wine can help lower the risk for getting a stroke. Red wine acts as a natural blood thinner, which is especially beneficial to the female body. Red wine is natures aspirin and can break apart any blood clot that may result in a stroke. Wine, particularly red wine, carries a compound known as Phenols. This is the compound that specifically targets blood clots and thins your blood, making red wine natures aspirin. Similarly, red wine can also help your brain out! Red wine can help your neurons stay alive and prevent them from dying off. This is due to the chemicals in red wine and can be done with just a glass a day. So how exactly are you affected by less neurons dying off? It’s simple! The more neurons that you retain throughout your life increases your chance of preventing neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s Disease or Alzheimer’s Disease). Therefore, the next time you step into the room and forgot what you were looking for, grab yourself a glass of red wine to power up your brain!
